Compassion in Action
Poverty is a major driver of human trafficking. It can leave women who are Mothers particularly vulnerable to traffickers who lure them with false promises of well-paying jobs or support for their children’s basic needs. Most of the women who find themselves in trafficking situations never intended to end up in the circumstances they are in. Poverty plays a big role in their vulnerability to exploitation. Most of us will never endure the extreme poverty that many human trafficking survivors have faced, but we can be compassionate and helpful in their healing. God teaches us to love them as He loves them. This is what drives us here at Engedi Refuge. We help women find inner peace and strength as they work to achieve enough self-sufficiency that they can reunite with their children.
